Articles with tag Farthing
A farthing is a quarter of a penny and was last struck in Great Britain in 1956. More details about British farthing varieties can be found in A Treatise on Varieties of British Fractional Bronze 1860-1970.
While many other commonwealth countries used pounds, shillings and pence, very few also adopted the farthing, no doubt due to its relatively low value when Commonwealth nations began adopting their own currencies. South Africa and Jamaica were among the few countries to have their own farthings.
